Proofreading/Beta Reading Questions
This archive has no requirement that stories be beta read prior to submission. However, having someone else look over your story before submission is highly encouraged. Proofreading is mandatory. Upon submission, all stories will be proofread for major spelling and grammar mistakes, and minor ones will be fixed for the author. However, major mistakes, especially ones that repeat throughout the story, may be cause for the story to be returned. The archive staff will work with all authors to have their stories archived.
All Authors MUST Spell check and proofread to the best their ability.
Authors are encouraged to have someone else look over the story for content/grammar/spelling/etc. This is optional, but it is strongly recommended.
Most experienced fanfic writers have their work reviewed by a minimum of at least on beta reader, but it is not required for stories to be archived here.
3. If English is not your first language, you may want to ask a native English speaker to read the story to look for any translation errors.

The Lois and Clark Fanfic Archive has a very good introductary writing guide and Writer's Guidelines. They cover grammar and punctuation basics and a list of commonly misused words.
